About Us

Below are some questions that consist of a little information about myself and the hobby:

How did you get into the hobby?

- I had a saltwater tank when I was young and I had always loved the color of saltwater fish. I was never able to grow corals when I was young. Whenever I took a break from the hobby I decided to come back because I had enough money to do it right the first time. Once I got the first coral to grow it began an addiction.

What is your favorite type of coral?

- SPS would have to be my favorite type of coral. They give me a challenge and I like the constant fight to get them to grow. I also like LPS coral even though they are easier to grow I still like them.

What motivates you to do well in this hobby?

- The success and the challenge really motivate me throughout my experiences with this hobby. Once I was successful I was motivated to have more success deeper into the hobby I went. The challenge also motivates me. I am the type of person that likes a constant challenge. Being challenged creates a reason to figure something out and overcome the challenge. Trust me this hobby is FULL of challenges.

What would you tell someone trying to get into the hobby?

- Buy the best equipment that wont break your wallet. With buying the best equipment relate your tank size based on your equipment at hand. You do not want to over work your equipment. The less work your equipment has to do the less likely of a chance that it'll break. Lastly be patient with this hobby, results will come with time. DO NOT RUSH SUCCESS!

What is your least favorite part about the hobby? Favorite?

- I personally do not like the thought of moving tanks. Unfortunately I am about to move into a new home which will be a pain to move all five of our saltwater aquariums. On the other note my favorite thing about the hobby is being able to grow a tiny 1" frag into a branching tree of multiple inches of coral. Taking pictures of before and after is always fun to show off where you've come from.

Future tanks? If so what will it consist of?

- In our new house we will have a 300 GALLON display tank. Our thoughts are to condense all five tanks into one or have all the tanks be on the same water system. We will have a "fish room" in the basement which will be where I do most of my frags. This area will hold our coral and fish quarantine as well. I am very excited about the new house and tank. I look forward to holding an INDMAS meeting in our new home along with showing off the fish room/display tank.
